Inside-Out Stories
Journal Writing Thoughts
As well as telling the story that happens on the outside—for example—“I walked down the street and bumped into Gigi, she asked how I was and I told her I was good.”
We can also tell the story of what is happening on the inside—for example—“I walked down the street and bumped into Gigi, she asked how I was and I told her I was good. But really I was feeling nervous and I didn’t know why. I thought about all the things I could be nervous about but none of them seemed to make sense. By the time my brain refocused on what was happening in front of me Gigi had finished telling me a long story. I realised I had not listened to a single word she had said. I made up an excuse to leave and ran away."
I have tried to tell outside and inside stories for a long time, they can be confusing, but it’s funny to see the truth of what is happening all around us and inside of us. Can you write an Outside & Inside story in your journal?
